Our Work

ECD Parenting

ECD Parenting training equips parents and caregivers with the skills and knowledge to foster safe, nurturing environments that support children’s development. The program emphasizes self-esteem, positive parenting, and core Early Childhood Development (ECD) concepts, focusing on the critical first 1,000 days of life. Using the READI Framework across seven African countries, participants complete a 10-session training covering nutrition and caregiver-child relationships.

In 2023, 176 caregivers from Mufakose, Harare, completed a 5-month program, benefiting 207 children under six years. The program effectively delivered its objectives, enhancing developmental outcomes in intellectual, social, emotional, and physical domains.

Kids Clubs

The Kids Clubs in Mufakose, Harare, support children aged 6 to 16 by offering educational activities and meals that promote safety and personal growth. These clubs engage children in art, sports, culture, career guidance, and child protection education, while addressing essential topics like health, hygiene, community responsibilities, and the effects of drug abuse. Events like Christmas parties, sponsored by generous donors, have provided joyful experiences, including games, performances, and environmental initiatives like planting fruit trees. Despite financial challenges, the clubs have successfully fostered character building, discipline, leadership, and a safe, supportive environment for children’s development.

Women Economic Empowerment

Women often bear the dual responsibility of caregiving and providing for their families. The WEE programme supports caregivers by identifying income-generating projects and offering training in financial literacy, vocational skills, and community savings to promote financial independence and sustainability.

In 2023, initiatives like the Hama Maoko Beading Club empowered caregivers through beading skills training, benefiting 90 women and generating $533 in sales. Similarly, the Internal Savings and Lending Scheme (ISALS) in Mufakose raised $5,888, further fostering economic empowerment and self-reliance for participating households.

Supporting Households Living in Distress

SHIELD

This program connects caring sponsors with individuals facing challenging life situations, offering financial, emotional, and social support. It has addressed issues such as job loss, homelessness, and the loss of a breadwinner, helping beneficiaries navigate life after major setbacks. In 2023, key activities included distributing clothing worth $2,100 and providing education support for 11 vulnerable children, including school fees and supplies. Food hampers were distributed to 52 households, containing essential items like mealie meal and cooking oil, alleviating hardship in Mufakose. Generous donations, including maize from Mr. and Mrs. Kanyangarara, supported 9 families, demonstrating the impact of partnerships in empowering the community.

Psychosocial Support

During Early Childhood Development (ECD) Parenting Training, caregivers received counseling for economic and relational issues. Beneficiaries in Kids Clubs and SHIELD Programs were provided psychosocial support to address their challenges.
